Of course, Pinterest has become a base of images in which you can find countless inspirations and that can help you make that space you plan to transform into your perfect corner, but is everything you see true? If you are one of those who spend hours and hours on this social network looking for ideas to redecorate your living room, inspiration on how to renovate your bathroom or what trends you could apply in your home, today we reveal those “lies” at the decoration level that circulate on this network and that can confuse you or generate frustration.
Lounges without television and radiators
It is very unrealistic to find a living room in a house that does not have a television or several radiators. However, on this social network there is a proliferation of images of ideal living rooms where there are neither of these two elements and where there are no cables or unsightly radiators. It is true that some houses will have underfloor heating or that in some homes there is no television, but they are the minority… while on Pinterest, this type of images, which ultimately do not fit our reality, are the order of the day. There is no shame in having a television in the living room, it can be perfectly integrated with the aesthetics of the room. Nowadays there are countless sizes, colors… and there are even brands that, when the television is off, projects an image and it seems that we have a painting instead of a TV.
Tidy and combined children’s rooms
Let’s face it: perfectly ordered and placed children’s rooms where even the little ones’ toys match the colors chosen to decorate them, only exist in catalogs and on Pinterest.
Children love color. Black and white rooms, in which even the stuffed animals follow that chromatic range and nothing is out of tune, are not real. Don’t get frustrated or try to imitate it, the rooms of the little ones are to be lived in and enjoyed.
Bathrooms without storage and without life
Where have you ever seen a bathroom without drawers where you can store everything that a person or a family uses on a daily basis? We’ll give you the answer: only on Pinterest.
Because a toilet without storage is not practical. It can serve as a guest toilet, or for guests or in a passage area, and they are really very beautiful, they transmit lightness, luminosity, elegance… But toilets without cabinets or drawers are not practical or functional.
Plus, you’ll realize that they’re lifeless bathrooms. There are no products, no towels, no toilet paper in the images… They look like “ghost baths”.
Chromatic shelves
That’s right. If we browse Pinterest for a while we will easily find several images of shelves where the books and the decoration that accompanies them follow the same chromatic range (black and white predominate) or where the books are ordered by blocks of colors.
The latest trend is to place books upside down so that they are seen from the side, showing the pages, instead of seeing the spine, and so they all look white. We’re sorry to tell you that this trend, apart from being absurd, seems impractical to us… or do you recognize your books without seeing the title and only looking at their pages?
These are some of the little lies that we have observed at the level of decoration or distribution of spaces on Pinterest. We all want to have the ideal home, but we cannot be frustrated or convinced by unrealistic images that make us aspire to the impossible.
Don’t let Pinterest rip you off. Not everything you see is real.
