If you are thinking of renovating your kitchen to make the most of all the space you have, the first thing you have to keep in mind is that there are different types of layout and not all of them will fit your kitchen.
Knowing each of them will help you make the right decision so that you can optimize the space.
Thanks to a proper layout, you will make your kitchen a much more functional and welcoming space.
L-Layout
It is one of the most common and is perfect for rectangular spaces.
It can be installed in almost any kitchen, except those that have more than two doors, or those that are less than 1.50 m wide.
The furniture is placed on one of the longest sides of the kitchen and on one of the shorter sides, making an L.
Depending on the space, a table and chairs can be easily placed and thus achieve a “dining room” space where the family can gather daily.
U-Layout
If the space we have is square, large or medium, the best distribution that your kitchen can have is U-shaped. You will use 3 walls of the room.
These kitchens are very comfortable because the distances have been shortened and it seems that everything is at hand.
Linear distribution
If your kitchen is narrow and elongated with less than 2 meters wide, the best option is the linear design. This will increase the storage capacity.
To make the most of the spaces, use tall cabinets that touch the ceiling.
Island Furniture
With that layout, you’ll have everything at hand, but it requires a lot of space.
By creating a central island, you will gain space for cooking and eating. Remember that if you install an island, there must be a free space of at least 90 centimeters wide to facilitate movement and to be able to move from one side to the other without problems.
Here are some of the layout options you could use depending on the space you have. Once this has been decided, the next step is to define the areas that your kitchen will have. For example, it is a good idea to dedicate the brightest space to the dining area, or that in what we define as a “laundry area” the sink and dishwasher are nearby.
If everything has its place established, you will cook better and you will also be more comfortable in that room.
